Sacred Disease

The term Sacred Disease was the term used in the days of Hippocrates Corpus (460 377 B.C.) to describe what is now commonly known as Epilepsy. Hippocrates is believed to have recorded the first observations of Epilepsy in humans that claimed the condition to be nowise more divine nor more sacred than other diseases. Hippocrates describes this phenomena being related to an imbalance in the four humors (blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile) and not of divine origin. While this film does not go into great detail on the life of Hippocrates, we do pay homage to his pioneer discoveries by titling our film The Sacred Disease.
